The history of the Ca De Bou originates from the island of Mallorca, dating back to the 1800's. The name Ca De Bou, literally means "Bull Dog" in native Catalan language. The breed was first recognized by the FCI in 1964. There are only about 500 Ca De Bou in the world today, and there are about 25 in the United States. The Ca De Bou has a working ability that is unmatched.

 

Standard

Origin: Spain

Appearance: strong, powerful, medium sized

Behavior: quiet, courageous, brave; ease with people and other animals; devoted to their master

Height and Weight: males 18 to 24 inches and 60 to 100 pounds; females are around 50 - 85 pounds

Coat: short and rough

Color: brindle, fawn, and black; dark tones preferred; fawn, deeper shade preferred; white patches are accepted on the front feet, chest, and muzzle; black mask is permitted

 

Registry Information

The Ca De Bou will be registered with both the FCI and the ICDBF. The ICDBF (International Ca De Bou Federation) is the only registry in the United States for the Ca De Bou. This registry is for pure bred Ca De Bou ONLY. Breeders of the Ca De Bou are welcome to register their dogs with the ICDBF. Proof of their FCI registration and complete pedigrees must be submitted with their application to be eligible for ICDBF registration. No EXCEPTIONS!!
